Supporting Those Who Need It Most This Brush for Good Month

21 April 2026 | News

Marking Brush for Good Month this May, the Australian Dental Foundation has delivered more than 200 tubes of toothpaste to BaptistCare SA clients, supporting improved access to essential oral health care for people experiencing vulnerability and homelessness.

Access to everyday oral health essentials can make a meaningful difference for individuals living with homelessness. Items as simple as toothpaste are often difficult to obtain, yet they play a critical role in maintaining oral hygiene, preventing dental issues, and supporting overall health and dignity.

This toothpaste donation forms part of the Australian Dental Foundation’s broader Brush for Good initiative, which focuses on improving oral health outcomes for underserved communities across Australia. By partnering with organisations like BaptistCare, the Foundation is able to reach individuals who may otherwise have limited or no access to dental care and hygiene products.

In addition to the donation, Australian Dental Foundation dental teams have been on the ground at the Westcare hub, providing essential oral care treatment for vulnerable people. This direct service delivery ensures that individuals not only receive oral health products, but also access professional care and support tailored to their needs.

Toothpaste donation programs and community-based dental services are vital in addressing oral health disparities, particularly for those experiencing homelessness. Initiatives like Brush for Good Month highlight the importance of accessible, preventative care and the impact of collective community support.

There are several ways to get involved and support this work. Individuals and organisations can contribute by purchasing oral health products, visiting fixed clinics, volunteering, or making a donation. These efforts help expand access to dental care and ensure more people receive the support they need.

Brush for dignity, brush for good.
